Gorillaz - Stylo (MAK Dubstep Remix)

Gorillaz - Stylo (Mak Dubstep Remix)Gorillaz new album Plastic Beach has just hit the shops, and what better time than for a few dubstep remixes to start doing the rounds. Here's one of Stylo, any more, anyone?

About this dubstep remix

Gorillaz was started by former lead singer of Blur, Damon Albarn and renowned animator and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett. The year was 1998 and the pair were living in a flat together in West London.

Their first single 'Clint Eastwood' was released in 2001, as was their debut album 'Gorillaz'. A number of singles from this album were featured in adverts, video games and movies, adding to the growing buzz.

One of their biggest was the release of the single 'Feel Good Inc.', which hit #2 in the UK charts the week it was released, a record for the band. It stayed in the top ten for 8 weeks, and made #14 in the USA.

The album Demon Days was released in May 2005, and made it to #1 in the single charts. Perhaps the biggest moment on here waas Dare, featuring the vocals of Shaun Rider, but the standout moment on this track was surely the massive hip-hop track Dirty Harry. Demon Days sold over a million copies in the UK.

Shoot forward to 2010 and Gorillaz have just released the album 'Plastic Beach', which looks to be their most successful album yet. It features a host of big-name collaborations, including Mos Def, Lou Reed, Snoop Dog, Kano, De La Soul and Bashy, as well as a number of different orchestras.

This single, Stylo was leaked onto the internet in January 2010. The band member Murdoc then posted it onto his own official website, stating that 'if anyone's going to leak my single it'll be me!'. It's a dirty twisted track with a whole host of soul, and featuring vocals by Bobby Womack, best known for 'Across 110th Street', and the legendary hip-hop artist Mos Def.

This dirty dubstep bootleg has been making waves across the UK scene, and has reportedly been spun as far afield as Thailand! In a class remake style it takes the vocals and feel of the original, applying a weaving winding bassline over the top to great effect. Sure to do damage to any dancefloor - this is most definitely one to watch.
